The film, based on Daoud’s book Sins of South Beach, will explore the Miami Beach of Daoud’s three terms, when cocaine was king and crime ran wild. Daoud, much beloved by his constituents as a voice for the powerless, nevertheless succumbed to the fast lifestyle of the times and was indicted on corruption charges. He completed a prison sentence before penning his thrilling memoir.

 

The book was picked up by Cinepro Pictures/Philippe Martinez Productions and Lionshark Media Group in late December to be made into a full feature-length film. It will be the first major production since television’s Burn Notice to film significantly in Miami Beach, creating an opportunity for local actors and generating significant revenue for the city.
